Bones and Beer: Match Made in Heaven!

Check it out! Bones and Beer together forever. I was super psyched to find out Meredith (who also guest sings on this weeks theme) picked this up as a surpsie gift for me. How awesome! I didn't even know they made a beer magazine. I'm sure Mr. Boreanaz will look forward to pouring an ice cold pint of guiness, popping open his laptop and jamming to this new beer bones themes after a long days of work.

We're getting a new episode one in every, like, two weeks and to top that off its on Thursday nites, which, being the social butterfly that I am, is alway busy so I end up having to record it. Ugh. Oh well, we'll have to deal I guess. I look forward to the new show tonight.

FOX pulled its new episode of Bones last week because George W. decided to address the nation one last time. I donno about you folks out there, but I was devastated. It's real hard to positively function in life without weekly Beer Bones. Needless to say our moral here was devastated. I mean, two new episodes back-to-back? Does that mean two new themes in one week? Is that possible?

The shock has subsided, the return of Bones is here and the timing is perfect. We swore in a new president giving the nation the hope and direction it needs and we can celebrate big time with the return of Bones after a 2 month hiatus. We get TWO NEW EPISODES including one where the team goes to a Circus! Anytime Bones is in a crazy setting--i.e. the costumed Halloween episode--it should bring some excitement because Beer Bones will be out of control!!!! You top that off with another new episode and you're realistically looking at getting your stomach pumped!

Warren and I decided to give you a theme this week even though we haven't seen the episode. Its short and sweet and get you in the right mood. Happy Drinking!

How long has it been? 7 weeks? 2 months? Forever?

I have been wandering aimlessly through life, trying to find meaning. What was the last Bones even about? It feels familiar yet the details are vague... I remember the TNT all day marathon. Mmmm... something with her dad, a line about sleeping...are you gay? Did I dream it? Am I dead? I honestly can't recall the corps or they way the subject died or who did it. Did Angela make out with her girlfriend again? That's something usually burned in to my memory. It must have been a really good episode for drinking....

For the return of Bones, Warren and I lit some incense and stared into a lava lamp for answers. We found this song: a psychedelic 60's jam.

11.26.08 - "If you ain't gonna fly wit me" by Superlicious Collective

This past weeks quirky Beer Bones episode that "takes place entirely on a plane while in flight" inspired a song about being up in the air. Channeling Funkadelic, we bring you a song about being super high (and doin' it)--this theme is excactly what Ween would sound like if they created a Beer Bones Theme Song for this episode.

Beer Bones Returns With A Vengence

Hey Guys, the weekly themes for Beer Bones returns!

Tonight marks the third episode since the show Bones returned from hiatus because of the world series. We took a break as well and though you haven't gotten anything from us in over a month that doesn't mean we haven't been busy making theme songs to coincide with the airing of new episodes. I got a little behind because of the celebration of the president elect and two weeks of kickball playoffs. But here it is, the motherload: THREE BEER BONES THEMES!

This brings the total of themes we have created up to 9 songs so far.

When we first started I didn't know what to expect. I knew it would be challenging but I hoped it would be a valuable exercise because I assumed two things: 1) We would undoubtedly get better week after week. We would make better songs, better production value, get better at mixing, singing, playing, ect. And 2) With getting better and having more experience, cranking out a song each week would get easier and hopefully faster.

After 9 weeks of songs, #1 is true. We're all getting much better. The first to couple themes are almost unlistenable compared to the last couple--and not because as Warren politely puts it "they lack drums". They sound better all around. I expect future themes to be better than this batch. #2 however is the complete opposite. Songs are taking longer to make because we have been challenging ourselves further and further every week. And it's not the same process. Everytime week we pick a new genre, we are sort of back to square one experimenting with pedals and effects to get the right sound. We are to the point to where last week we worked on our theme 5 nights out of the week. 5!!! (I'm counting the night we watched the next episode, but still.) That's like a job and working on it that much makes it feel like, well, work. And that's silly. So there you have it. The time, blood and booze that is put into a weekly song.

11.05.08 - "Transgender Preacher" by Little E & The Zion Dub All-Stars

Before we watched this episode which aired 10.14.08 Warren had suggested Reggae as a theme. The show opened with Washington stoners sitting on beach listening to reggae. We kind of had to do it at that point. Definitely the worst episode of the year. It really is about a Transgender Preacher. WTF? We actually had this song ready to go for the next we week until we realized that there wasn't going to be a new Bones for a while. We've sort of transitioned from making fun of crappy music to actually trying to make good songs. That is why I did not sing this song with a Jamaican accent and pitch shift myself down. Instead, its like white reggae... so... uh... if you're into that thing.... maybe you'll like it.

11.12.08 - "You & Me, Girl" by Lasermatic

Bones returns from break with an awesome ridiculous episode about murderous hipsters and posers artists. More importantly we learn Angela experimented with girls, sexually, back in college. And fuck it, she'll do it again for old times' sake. This is our attempt at 80's, white, cocaine disco track. Somewhere between The Apple and Talking Heads.

11.19.08 - "The Sharpshooter" by Constellation

A fun episode where we meet Booth's brother also known as "that guy from Roswell". In what could've at the time been a throwaway line, he tosses out that Booth used to be a star sharpshooter. Who knew? 90's stoner rock song. Recorded and mixed all in one session! Now that's how I like to do it.

Thanks so much to Ashley for her contributions on keyboards and vocals. I often forget to mention that she helps out. And of course to Warren who's the mastermind behind this whole project. Also, anyone know anybody that wants to make a real website for this?

Beer Bones Theme 10-01-08

Presenting your new Beer Bones Theme. Now with the added feature of being on time!

While the return of Zack to the show was the talk of the town, Warren and I found ourselves much more entertained by the new could-be-a-thug-with-a-heart-of-gold-from-Jersey Intern Wendle. This week's theme is inspired by the conversation between Angela and Wendle where he tells Angela that Bones is hitting on him and he won't sleep with her. Through this warped drunken idea I present to you Reverend Sweat and the Congregation doing a Soul / Marvin gaye / more like a skinemax version of R.Kelly with a touch of Funkedelic "We Need To Talk".

Hey Folks,
I'm starting a weekly--well episodic would be more precise--THEME OF THE WEEK for your favorite drinking game Beer Bones. If you're not aware, Beer Bones is a drinking game Dave and I came up for the Fox Show BONES. I figure, tuesday night or wednesday day I'll post weekly theme collaboration by me and my roommate Warren in a different genre (ideally). This time I also included last week's song which was Slim Tex McLaughlin and his Half Drunk Ranch Hands doing country--REAL COUNTRY--not that pop shit on the radio now and days. (EDITORS NOTE: THIS IS THE BLACK SHEEP OF BEER BONES SONGS, THERFORE I HAVE REMOVED IT.)
